Ansar Ali Naqvi completed his undergraduate studies in 1994 from Sindh University, Jamshoro. He began his journalism career in 1988 at Daily Safeer, Hyderabad, and worked as correspondent in an extremely hostile and precarious political environment. In February 1991, he joined The News International as a reporter and worked there till April 2002 as Bureau Chief, Sindh. After an illustrious career in print media, he joined Geo News in April 2002, as Out Station Reporter, Hyderabad. He quickly moved through the ranks, thanks to his extensive experience and expertise in the field of reporting and held several key positions at Geo News, including Senior Assignment Editor, Senior Producer, Executive Producer, Input Head and Controller News. On December 25, 2014, he parted ways with Jang Group after a long association of 24 years, serving as a leading journalist in both print and electronic media.

In a stellar journalistic career spanning 25 years, Ansar Ali Naqvi has a number of exclusive and investigative stories to his credit, including several extrajudicial killings and mystery of a child murder. In addition, he covered Daniel Pearl Case for international news organizations as well as a spate of bomb blasts, the 1994 earthquake and the devastating floods for BBC Urdu Service as a freelancer. He also worked on a documentary on child labor in the bangle industry for Australian TV. Investigative Reporter of the Decade

Ansar Ali Naqvi has consistently developed his reporting and journalistic skills by attending various workshops and trainings and won several awards and accolades in recognition of his contribution to the field of journalism. In 1996, due to his Investigative Reporting, he was selected from Pakistan for the "Diploma of Journalism" on Democracy and Journalism by Swedish Institute for the Further Education of Journalists (FOJO), which he completed after professional News Media related training in various newsrooms of News Channels and Newspapers of Sweden. Again in 2001, Swedish Institute FOJO selected him for advance course of Diploma, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Later, in honor of his remarkable services, the Herald magazine published his interview, chronicling his stellar journalistic achievements. In 2000, the magazine declared him the ‘Investigative Reporter of the Decade’. In 2011, he attended a two-week program on ‘Developing Future Leaders’ at the Rausing Executive Development Centre of Lahore University of Management Sciences.
